I was the Chief of Police in Green Bay, WI from 1985 through 1990. I, too, am a recovering alcoholic and started my sobriety on March 3,1983. I would nver been appointed Chief if I Hadn’t found god and sobriety. I was also an expert at keeping my addiction hidden. I commend you for your sobriety and I really enjoyed your book.
You might not remember this but in 1986 the Press Gazette did a story in which more people in Green bay knew who you were than knwe who the chief of police was. The story was headlined “Howie Who”.
