Tony,
I recently saw the piece on ESPN and was floored. I was in HS when you entered the draft. Being an offensive lineman in a HS in Michigan, I along with other teammates idolized you. Now, as a recovering alcoholic, I am even more amazed at your honesty and courage.

To Tony, I first new you existed when I saw you on David letterman and you were going to fight Mike Tyson. I was so excited. I thought you would beat him. I saw you play for the Packers a few times and the Colts a couple times. You were a big NFL draw for me and others I'm sure. I suffered an addiction to alcohol during part of the eighties and nineties. I have been alcohol free since December of 1999. I have recently battled a small addiction to caffeine. I like to drink quite a bit of caffeine, but recently I have a little too much. Not nearly as frequent though and I do it to get a small lift, not get pretty high. I am glad you overcame your addiction. I don't know what painkillers are like, or drugs, or steroids, but I'm glad that the best is yet to be and I sure like hot tea, neat huh. I drink coffee with cream and sugar too, Nescafe instant Taster's Choice is what I like with Coffee Mate fat free creamer and sugar. I know you used to eat a lot of food. I wonder if you still do. I like food too, not tons of it, but quite a bit. Well, I am really looking forward to your book and reading it. I hope your Photography goes well. I like digital photography, I have a photo printer that I use. Music is my main thing, I play the drums and sometimes guitar. I want to get my old band back together. Maybe we will. I like alot of different kinds of music. I wonder if you still like the old bands that you liked. Well, take care and stay positive, things are ok. Good luck, Thanks sincerely, David

Tony,

I enjoyed your interview and applaud your honesty. The strength your displaying now far outweighs any physical strength demonstrated during your playing days.

It takes a real big man to do what your doing and you should be proud of yourself.

You can't change your past but your helping others in the present.

My best to you!

Tony,

It's refreshing to see a celebrity take responsiblity for their actions. I can tell you are working a good program by some of the verbage you used.

I also love the fact that you called Jose out. That guy was a clown-ass for dropping names to benefit himself.

I'm looking forward to your book. More importantly, I'm looking forward to continuing to see a clean and sober Tony Mandarich. One day at a time brother...one day at a time.
